What is Plagiarism, Why is it bad? Is it intentional?

Well, Plagiarism is the way of stealing another ones work and those consequences are varied on how much you take from them. Plagiarism is defined in many definitions there’s ‘Direct Plagiarism which is a word of word copy’. ‘Self Plagiarism is the combining parts of previous essay of an older time period that is similar and can relate or use’. ‘Mosaic Plagiarism is the getting phrases of a source and changing grammar pieces’. ‘Accidental Plagiarism is not citing the sources, unintentionally paraphrasing and not planning out the essay’. (From the Academic Honestly and Plagiarism in Bowdoin Studies Center https://www.plagiarismchecker.net/)

And, lots of us have used another’s work before but sometimes in a way that passes their work as yours. This leads to a failure to ‘think’ in the eyes of others. So they created something called citations to accredit the authors and this helps the instructor figure out whether you gave credit to the sources you have used. For myself I’ve learned that Plagiarism is not the way to do things. When you are caught, it is just a bad representation for yourself and how people think you are. So I figured if you’re going to take info, try to give back your ideas and opinions on it too.
Also, if you can’t find the right answers usually a good idea is to speak or ask your teacher or instructor. I personally took that for granted and struggling through this is not the way to go. Never be unsure about anything, learn to ask. That’s my personal opinion and it is better to know than to not at all. Try to plan out what to do and not slack around playing games, hanging with friends and last minute homework dues. Those are just some major causes that lead to procrastination which then later on leads to Plagiarism.

Moving on, to citations more or less you could actually cite the sources wrong can mess up your essay or paper and it actually leads to plagiarism. This shows that plagiarism can happen accidently and not just purposefully. According to (Writing Center in University of North Carolina) you should follow their steps to prevent Plagiarism ‘Change your attitude about using citations’, ‘Improve your note taking skills’. And ‘Locate the appropriate style manual’. The ‘manual’ is the rules or guidelines that the instructor presents to the class to use for your essay or paper. These steps I see help you regulate how you do your paper and greater your performance to fit the task and complete it.

Consequently, it’s so tempting in your mind to complete it quickly and not think of the aftermath. Some of us try to hide it and not say anything, but that’s not the right thing to do. From my insight on myself I see that regards to Plagiarism is that some of us get lazy, tired and not capable of doing the work. ‘From being overwhelmed, stressed, and can’t focus due to another activity in progress (Plagiarism Checker)’. Sometimes it runs in anyone’s mind ‘If I just copy and paste and reword it I might finish this essay quicker’ (My Opinion). Obviously that’s going to fail miserably and I can vouch on that.

In Conclusion, plagiarism is common and could happen and get you into trouble. As I see it plagiarism could be accidental by merely missing citations and grammar issues. But that take good notes that’ll help you comprehend your topic clearly in mind. Cite your sources correctly or to your best of knowledge. And don’t be an incompetent fool and Plagiarize.
I apologize.
